Looks more like jealousy this time. If I recall the previous one, it was more about screwed up sibling relationship and the stairs incident.
The stairs incident may or may not still rear its ugly head later on.
Jealousy was always supposed to be a part of it, but I guess I didn't put much emphasis on it last time? Dylan doesn't consider Jerry worth anyone's attention, so he hates when he gets it.
Most of the time with murder stories I have a really hard time sympathizing with the murderer. Their reasons are usually very, well, complicated. And therefore petty.
This is a simple, very BELIEVABLE, crime of passion.
It's good stuff.
Well, it's terrible, I mean someone just got a brick to the head.

I can't remember which detective series it was that had a murderer kill someone because they were going to disprove his scientific paper. Best motive.
But wow, thank you! I get kinda nervous writing parts like this, so that's amazing to hear.
