technically you did leave, if you think about it. no reason to be upset dude

20th Feb 2019, 6:26 PM edit | delete | reply

I'm sure it's a great comfort to him knowing his body is no longer in the hospital.

20th Feb 2019, 6:17 PM edit | delete | reply

Well, s**t happens. Have a nice day afterlife, Mal.

20th Feb 2019, 6:25 PM edit | delete | reply

rip
hope he enjoys his extended stay in the hospital

20th Feb 2019, 6:47 PM edit | delete | reply

The colors are so nice aaaaaaaaaa

20th Feb 2019, 6:55 PM edit | delete | reply

thank you! I found them weirdly tricky on this page.

20th Feb 2019, 7:09 PM edit | delete | reply

I can't remember what page it was, but for some reason I thought he died from sepsis? If that's the case, he would have been in tremendous pain up until he died, so I'm thinking I'm misremembering.

20th Feb 2019, 7:33 PM edit | delete | reply

Sepsis has been implied until this point since dylan's mum died from it and it's why the hospital shut down.
either it wasn't sepsis or there's something missing here

20th Feb 2019, 7:13 PM edit | delete | reply

Hm. Makes me wonder if Robin suspected something but never felt like talking about it and pointing fingers. I mean, you probably cannot tell so at least it could be why he thought people die for no reason.

I guess when you kinda know you are doing bad health wise and seem to be a no-BS person even this is something you just accept. As supernatural as it is. Not that we know what happens after death anyway.
Otherwise, you are Jerry and uh, you need it spelled out. That you are D-E-A-D, haha.

20th Feb 2019, 7:36 PM edit | delete | reply

To give jerry maybe a little credit, Malachy might have been wondering about the hospital for a while before he saw Rob and this page is just super condensed, but either way, he didn't need someone to tell him :')

20th Feb 2019, 7:21 PM edit | delete | reply

Now, this what I call gooood stuff. I don't mean the fact that he's finally dead it's just... I dunno, when the flashback started I thought "there's no way you can make me feel sorry for this jerk", but uhhh... well, you just did.
Damn you, Moth :')

20th Feb 2019, 7:38 PM edit | delete | reply

hehehHEH
I was thinking about this kind of reaction as I was making the page
how can i conflict readers' feelings further, I thought

20th Feb 2019, 7:57 PM edit | delete | reply

In all honesty I was kinda sold on feeling bad for the dude the second it was revealed that he had to drive himself to the hospital with a ruptured organ. He’s certainly a punkass bitch but there is some depth to that. Complicated characters, I live for it <3

20th Feb 2019, 8:08 PM edit | delete | reply

The guy had too much pride to call an ambulance.
I like Malachy and Rob, so I sometimes think of making a short story about just them (then I remember how many story ideas I already have)

20th Feb 2019, 8:13 PM edit | delete | reply

Wait, are ambulances FREE over there? Because here people can get charged enough to negatively alter their lives if they’re not covered properly

20th Feb 2019, 8:14 PM edit | delete | reply

wait WHAT
you have to pay for an AMBULANCE?
that's messed up

they're free, all necessary healthcare is free I believe (except for like eye/dental checkups). You can pay for private services if you don't want the waiting times or if you want something not offered by the NHS

20th Feb 2019, 8:18 PM edit | delete | reply

One time I wasn’t sure if my insurance covered ambulance rides so I got into an über half conscious with a high fever, hoping I wouldn’t vomit, pass out or die in the back of a stranger’s car

People have been charged thousands of dollars for shortish rides. It’s a teensy bit fucked

20th Feb 2019, 8:18 PM edit | delete | reply

good god that's horrifying

20th Feb 2019, 9:13 PM edit | delete | reply

My mom used to drive an ambulance, here in the states. And yeah, she's like "don't take an ambulance unless you 'need' to." The costs are ridiculous for the minimal aid received through them.

Everything about this page hurts. The expressions are on point and that first panel is beautiful. The way the colors shifted from the brights of the last page to this duller, more sickly scheme really piles on the aura of dread. Hella good work.

It really is starting to seem like Jer’s theory is right - ghosts hang around the thing that killed them. Jerry with Dylan, Malachy with this hospital. So...I’m beginning to wonder why, of all places, Rob decided to show up in Corey’s room...

20th Feb 2019, 8:13 PM edit | delete | reply

Thank youu <3 took a good few recolours to get to this weird scheme :D

Better to haunt your brother than an empty building : (
I feel like people mostly passed over that brief bit of Soggy Rob hmm

20th Feb 2019, 9:28 PM edit | delete | reply

Hmm… I'm starting to wonder if the cause of death was something related to organ harvesting. It would explain why Ms. Harper is an important minor character. She'd effectively be the coroner of the teenaged investigation squad.

21st Feb 2019, 3:17 PM edit | delete | reply

I dunno what anyone would want with malachy's appendix even if it wasn't ruptured
you reckon someone just took a bunch of other stuff as well?

21st Feb 2019, 12:35 AM edit | delete | reply

Aaaaand it suddenly hits home that dying because some annoying brat decided to mess with your medical equipment when you were sick, then spending a frickin' decade in a living nightmare watching everything around you literally and figuratively fall apart is pretty nightmarish and a reasonable way to drive someone batty enough to… well. Great lengths.

21st Feb 2019, 3:19 PM edit | delete | reply

Is he my most mistreated character? perhaps
Does it entirely excuse his post-mortem behaviour?

21st Feb 2019, 7:44 PM edit | delete | reply

When it comes to torture, everyone has their breaking point. Everyone. The old Hollywood schtick of the protagonist too tough to break is a farce, just ask special ops soldiers who have to endure torture as part of their training. The test is to determine how long you can last before you lose your mind and will do anything to make it end. Under the circumstances that Malachy (getting used to that spelling) has endured, I don't really think it's possible to judge his actions fairly, so I'd basically say that he's a psycho ghost and whatever you can do to get him to move on is an available option. It'd be nice if you could do it in such a way as to give him peace at last, but if you don't know how to do it that would make an already difficult task nearly impossible, or too distasteful (like murdering a bunch of people).

The implication I'm seeing now, as far as the deaths around town are concerned, is that Malachy has possessed people and had them kill those he believes wronged him (Rob and Jerry for starters). If that's the case, then it's no wonder there are a lot of unsolved murders, because the killer probably has no, or only a tenuous, connection to the victim. Then again, Malachy might not be that careful, so who knows?

21st Feb 2019, 5:17 AM edit | delete | reply

...
that's a bummer man.

21st Feb 2019, 3:19 PM edit | delete | reply

yeah :{

21st Feb 2019, 11:47 PM edit | delete | reply

I am definitely gonna need to do a re-read...didn't really see this angle coming at all! Was Robin's brother mentioned earlier in comic? :o

But his motivations make sense now, as I assume Jerry basically killed him.

22nd Feb 2019, 12:24 AM edit | delete | reply

he was mentioned by Rob in Drain where he says he'll go to his brother in London, which Vic later contradicts saying he has no brother in London
But yeah I kinda considered this the twist!
