Did he just possess his own brother?

In my story notes I call it 'forcing a vision' ;)

Hmmmm you just keep making things more complicated so I can't pinpoint a logical path in all this...I love it >:)

On a side note...what does "take the mick" mean? In the US "mick" is a derogatory term for an Irish person but I don't think that's what it means here?

26th May 2018, 5:01 PM edit | delete | reply

Ya, I'm very worried it's too confusing :S

Taking the mickey, taking the piss... uhh mocking? More like making a mockery of, I guess.

26th May 2018, 5:07 PM edit | delete | reply

Nah it's a good level of confusion, just solid enough for you to grasp but not enough for me to guess. (or maybe I'm just slow? XD)

26th May 2018, 8:00 PM edit | delete | reply

Huh. If you hadn't said anything, Moth, I would've assumed that 'taking the mike' was in reference to a microphone mike. As in someone was going to make an announcement/speech/confession and Jerry 'took the (probably metaphorical) mike'. Like how Dylan and Chris were victims of Jerry's selfish antics, it appeared to me that Corey wasn't exempt from his behavior.

But with that note cleared up, I, again, got nothing on what exactly they were fighting over.

That said, Jerry's, Beth's, and what's-his-face's are oddly composed for something that broke Jerry and Corey's friendship. And considering Beth is on good terms with both Jerry and Corey, it makes me think whatever happened wasn't huge huge.

As an aside, Jerry saying he doesn't need Corey parallels Dylan chronologically later saying he doesn't need Corey to protect him. That really had to sting and likely explains why Corey kicked the bus stop on the next page.

I concur with Proxy, this story is the good kind of confusing. For instance, one particularly confusing moment was when Dylan and Dapper Jerry took that impromptu trip to the abandoned blue building, Dylan was as confused as we were. Because of that, It felt like a deliberate artistic choice rather than improperly explaining the mechanics; an invoked reaction in the reader rather than a failure as a magician.

I really enjoyed Jerry's transition near the bottom of the page. It was a good choice having him transition from his memory design to his ghost design while watching his emotions shift as quickly from shock, to confusion, to rage.

As for the last two panels. I love how you periodically remind us that Dylan and Jerry are not nice people. Most characters in this part of the arc would've probably had an epiphany of some sort by now. It's honestly kinda refreshing to see this play out this way.

26th May 2018, 9:31 PM edit | delete | reply

Maybe Beth and Justin don't know what they're arguing about, just that it's probably stupid. Well! Now that Dylan's worked out what he can do, he might be going back in for the rest of the memory ;)

Yes yes, Corey really gets it rough in this story :¬D

And thanks! No epiphanies for MY characters! if they come to any changes of heart it's gonna be slow and painful >:)

Huh. I didn't know "take the mick" was a Britishism until now. Asked my (US) husband and he also hadn't heard it.

The mildest meaning is to joke, usually direct mockery. It can also mean taking advantage. I think Corey means it more in the latter sense than the former.

I always tell students that if they are confused, they should start talking and asking. If you are serious about getting rid of confusion then you probably have a good point or two!
You never know because sometimes you might say something nobody considered :D

Plus it is always better, speaking for myself at least, when some kind of actual discusion is going on. Easier to consider stuff and jump in :D

I also agree it is the good kind of confusing. You gotta have the mystery and Moth is really good at revealing only what is needed and it gives plenty of room to guess and change opinions. That is what helps this comic stand out.

As for the current page:

Hm. I see. That was pretty harsh :/
As was previously mentioned, I guess this is one instance when Jerry could not get away with his crap and someone (Corey) called him out. I guess I can understand Dylan's smirk there. Not sure how much more he can take a look again but like this he has something against Jerry. He always wanted to prove Jerry was annoying? It is a bad spot for Jerry because Dylan might go as far as find out what else was Jerry's fault and never wanted to reveal. Heh.

"it makes me think whatever happened wasn't huge huge"
Probably although I do not think Corey is the kind of guy who would get worked up over something lesser. Jerry seems more like the one who would blow it out of proportions but here it is Cory who started the argument? Hm.

Moth, take as long as you need and go as slow as you have to. I'm frankly floored by the speed at which you get such complex, art-heavy pages out; I can only guess you built a good backlog up.

(BTW, do you have a Patreon or GoFundMe or similar?)

28th May 2018, 10:42 AM edit | delete | reply

Sometimes I have a backlog, sometimes I don't! This is one of those times where I need one but I do not have enough of one because I might not be able to draw much at all for a bit

(And nah, I don't!)

1st Jun 2018, 11:02 PM edit | delete | reply

Noooes, I wanted to at least get you a coffee! :'-( I guess I'll just have to thank you the weird old-fashioned way with words and praise like some kind of barbarian

(Which is to say, thank you for the amazing work you do, it's spectacular and I value it no matter what schedule you decide is practical for you.)

28th May 2018, 4:40 AM edit | delete | reply

DYLAAAAAN'S FAAACE!

But don't worry about 1 page a week Moth, you do you, we'll enjoy it all the same.

>:}

Thanks jack! I might be able to keep up 2, depends how much I get done this week :^D

17th Nov 2018, 8:23 PM edit | delete | reply

Well, Dylan, you can probably use that as evidence that Jerry's ghost isn't just you hallucinating if you're seeing scenes you weren't around for!
